The UNICRI Laboratory is an information-gathering centre, while maintaining a strong regional approach, the Lab tests ideas to find proactive solutions to the many global security issues.

The Laboratory’s strong point is its fast response approach, given the ever-changing geopolitical climate, international actors need to be able to quickly adapt in order to face new threats and challenges.

The Lab has a unique creative approach to support policy-makers, its leading expertise in the security field has driven the Laboratory to push for a transformation within the institutional culture of the major security actors.

The UNICRI Lab promotes positive change in the mechanics of information sharing to improve multilateral cooperation and in training to develop the technical and managerial skills necessary to work in interdisciplinary situations.

The Lab works to strengthen security through the management of new ideas in the field of counter-terrorism, it abides by a creative multi-level and intersectorial approach. Through brokerage action the Lab provides fresh ideas and innovative solutions to policy-makers, helping tackle issues affecting the international, regional and local spheres.

The Lab will also continue to focus its activities on non-traditional areas of the international agenda, such as major events security and public-private partnership, dealing with politically sensitive topics with a technical approach.

It will be testing new ideas, managing existing knowledge and improve cooperation at the international and at the regional level but also maintaining a special focus on municipalities to optimise the use of resources and increase the effectiveness of its projects.
