

On 15 and 16 June UNICRI organised the 1st Mentoring Service for National Experts in the prevention of illicit trafficking of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) material, the Mentoring Service was hosted by Croatia in Dubrovnik. During the Mentoring Service ideas and approaches were exchanged among experts from diverse international and regional organisations and national experts fromSouth-East Europe and the Caucasus to control the intangible transfer of technology related to the development and the use of CBRN weapons of mass destruction by non-state actors.
UNICRI, within the framework of the CBRN Knowledge Management System Project in South-East Europe and the Caucasus, and in cooperation with participating States and International/Regional Organisations (European Commission, IAEA, OPCW, Europol, WCO and SECI Centre), identified the monitoring of Intangible Transfer of Technology as one of the key strategies that needs to be reinforced at the national level. Among countries involved in the Project, Croatia was identified as having the best practices and laws to deal with intangible transfer of technology.
