Workshop on Reinforcing Disarmament: Combating Illicit Trade in Weapons and Materials, Geneva, 1st-2nd February 2010
UNICRI partecipated in the 2 days workshop in Geneva on reinforcing Disarmament: Combating Illicit Trade in Weapons and Materials organized by the The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP).
The initiators of the workshop had the ambition to not only come up with a matrix demonstrating actors, mechanisms and synergies, but also lay out an overview of new challenges, such as new combat strategies, new tools, and new actors.
The workshop was an opportunity to inform relevant actors about UNICRI’s activities to combat CBRN trafficking as well as to open up collaborative possibilities with other organizations, which will be pursued.
