Paving the way to the European House of Major Events
On 20th May 2010, the 7 EU-SEC II partners will convene in Lisbon, to participate in a key meeting, to discuss and think out the next phases of the project – notably planning the steps to take towards the construction of a European House of Major Events Security. The partners will work on a roadmap for the concrete establishment of the House to be prepared for and submitted to the European Commission.
The European House of Major Events Security (the House) will be a virtual end-user focused platform that will offer tangible services that will facilitate the effective design of security plans for Major Events.
The two day Lisbon meeting will provide the EU-SEC II partners with the opportunity to start working on how to pool together the findings during the previous phases of EU-SEC II to start working towards the construction of the House. In addition, the partners will also have the opportunity to exchange information and ideas with the UNICRI’s recently opened Public Private Security Policies and Major Events Initiative.
EU-SEC II is a three year project funded by the European Commission. It builds upon the four year Coordinating National Research Programmes on Security during Major Events in Europe (EU-SEC). The project brings together a broad coalition of 24 public sector partners that work in the area of security at Major Events.
