On the occasion of the review of the UN Global Counter Terrorism Strategy, on September 8, 2010, a series of side events, organized under the framework of the UN Counter Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) to discuss the different issues related to international terrorism, will take place in New York, at the International Peace Institute.
UNICRI is taking the lead to open discussions on the role of civil society in implementing the Global Counter Terrorism Strategy.
UNICRI supports the idea of better linking CTITF's activities with civil society and is convinced that tremendous value could lie in promoting the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy more broadly by engaging those who are not familiar with it.
Since there are numerous references in the strategy to engaging civil society and to communicating the Strategy to a broader audience, this panel discussion will be a first step in that direction.
Relevant civil society organizations as well as Member States will be participating in the discussion.
Side events agenda.
