Creating bridges among cultures, especially in the Mediterranean area is one of the main purposes of the UNICRI Lab Office for Dialogue and Innovation in Lucca.
Within this framework, UNICRI is launching an initiative that intends to promote cultural cooperation, intercultural dialogue and inter-religious dialogue between Europe and the Middle East through the twinning of
the Via Francigena and the Abraham Path. These historical itineraries are respectively recognised for their cultural interest and their symbolic importance by the Council of Europe and the Alliance of Civilisations.
The scope of the project is to enhance a stable cooperation between the organisations that promote the two historical cultural itineraries. Furthermore, it will facilitate common cultural activities to promote and develop cross-cultural understanding, involving youth, and also assisting with the preservation of historic sites and the environment.
