Experts in law, philosophy and computer science took part in the “Workshop on Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Law Enforcement” jointly organized by UNICRI’s Centre for AI and Robotics and the Institute for Ethics in AI of the University of Oxford (UK). After the successful meetings with authorities of Lao PDR, UNICRI continued its in-country missions to CONTACT Southeast Asia’s partner countries by traveling to Phnom Penh, capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Within this context and in the framework of the CONTACT SEA project, on 21-22 March 2022, UNICRI held a 2-day workshop with Cambodian authorities in charge of combating illicit trafficking of radiological and nuclear (RN) material.
Ms. Antonia Marie De Meo, Director of UNICRI, and Mr. Albrecht Freiherr von Böselager, Grand Chancellor and Foreign Minister of the Sovereign Order of Malta, signed an agreement between the two organizations to strengthen cooperation in the field of crime prevention and international justice.

Within the framework of the European Union Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Centres of Excellence (EU CBRN CoE) Initiative, the 14th Round-Table Meeting (RTM) for Central Asia took place on 1-3 June 2021. The event was held in hybrid format: online and in person in the city of Almaty, the Republic of Kazakhstan, abiding by the COVID-19 safety protocols. It was the first RTM for the Republic of Kazakhstan, which joined the EU CBRN CoE Initiative in November 2020.
