Programme Overview
The Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Crime and Justice, jointly organized by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and the Department of Law at the University of Turin (UNITO), this year will run from 3 November 2015 to 31 July 2016.
The LL.M. represents a unique opportunity for students and young professionals interested in furthering their knowledge and critical understanding of International Criminal Law. The programme, indeed, provides up-to-date analysis of the most relevant matters related to International Criminal Law and Crime Prevention by offering its students a combination of academic lectures, practical exercises and specialized training seminars.
After an initial e-learning phase (3 Nov 2015 - 15 Jan 2016), the residential phase of the LL.M. (25 Jan - 31 July 2016) is held at the United Nations Campus in Turin, Italy. The Campus is located on 10 hectares of riverside parkland and hosts other national and international organizations such as the ITC-ILO and UNSSC. It holds annually more than 450 programmes and projects involving approximately 11,000 people from over 180 countries and also offers leisure time, dining, and sports facilities to its guests.
Programme content
Each year students are lectured and lead in practical exercises and debates by internationally renowned experts, academics and practitioners on various subjects including:
- International Criminal Law
- International Humanitarian Law
- International Criminal Jurisdictions and International Criminal Procedure
- Comparative Law and Comparative Criminal Law
- Relationship between International Criminal Law and National Legislation
- Interstate Co-operation on Criminal Matters
- Transnational Organized Crime and Transantional Crimes such as, Cybercrime, Corruption, Environmental Crime, Terrorism and Trafficking in Persons
- Forensic Psychology
